PM’s Vadodara Programme Sees Massive Public Participation

In a historic move, public participation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming programme in Vadodara opened for registration on BookMyShow the day before the event, allowing citizens to secure their spots online.

The response was immediate and overwhelming; all available seats filled within one hour of registration opening. Consequently, Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) had to close the registration process, placing over 42,000 applicants on a waiting list, underscoring the enthusiasm surrounding the Prime Minister’s visit.

The programme, scheduled for Tuesday, will utilize a fully digital and technology-enabled entry system. Each registered participant will receive a digital M-Ticket via their BookMyShow account, complete with a secure QR code for seamless entry verification. The aim is to enhance accessibility and ensure smooth crowd movement during the event.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various development projects in Vadodara worth over ₹35,000 crore. These include crucial sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), which spans 326 route kilometres and comes with an investment exceeding ₹20,700 crore.

The newly developed sections, which include New Sanand-New Makarpura, New Umbergaon-New Saphale, and New Saphale-New JNPT, promise to bolster connectivity between industrial centres and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA). This development will facilitate faster movement of EXIM cargo, significantly reduce logistics costs, and alleviate congestion within Mumbai’s railway network.

Once operational, the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) network will enhance India’s logistics ecosystem by ensuring multimodal connectivity, cutting down transit times, and enabling efficient cargo movement across various regions.

Furthermore, PM Modi will flag off freight train services from the newly established New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon, and New JNPT in Mumbai. A new passenger train service connecting Tanda Road and Vadodara (Pratapnagar) will also be introduced.

The Prime Minister will also dedicate the Jobat-Tanda Road rail line to the nation, part of the Chhota Udepur-Dhar project, facilitating rail connectivity to remote tribal areas in Alirajpur.

In addition to these rail initiatives, three significant railway projects, costing more than ₹9,700 crore, will receive foundation stones from the Prime Minister. These projects will improve rail capacity and enhance connectivity between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

The Prime Minister is also set to initiate three National Highway projects valued at around ₹1,780 crore, which will involve key upgrades to enhance road safety and connectivity in the region.

On top of these infrastructure developments, PM Modi will inaugurate several initiatives worth approximately ₹2,600 crore by the Government of Gujarat. This includes important projects such as the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road Phase II and a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam.

Among the projects set for inauguration are housing projects under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and a water-supply project for 11 villages in eastern Vadodara, underlining the government’s focus on inclusivity and essential services.

Simultaneously, the Prime Minister will be present in Mumbai to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, one of the foremost annual conferences in the fintech sector globally.

Scheduled from 8th to 11th September 2026, GFF has emerged as a vital platform for collaboration among policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, and fintech companies. This year, the theme revolves around the transformative power of Agentic AI, Tokenisation, and Quantum technologies to propel inclusive finance.

The event aims to foster a dialogue among diverse global stakeholders, exploring strategies to convert financial technologies into tangible benefits for citizens, enterprises, and economies alike.
